Psalm 13–This psalm offers excellent advice of what to do when God just seems so far away. First, tell Him how you feel. Next, ask Him to help you see and give you the wisdom to know what to do. And then, trust Him because He has shown you His unfailing love in the past.
Jeremiah 30-33– God promised to discipline His own people (the captivity). He promised to restore them once again to their land (the regathering). God promised to instill a New Covenant with the coming of Messiah (Jesus). God always keeps His promises.
Psalm 9 This psalm is David’s testimony of how he has seen God work justice in the past. He confidently includes a prayer for God to make things right in his present situation as well. The God of justice will answer.
Galatians 2:11-21 In this passage, Paul sets up a discussion of two contrasts–Living by the law (following rules) or living by faith (trusting in Jesus Christ). Only one method sets us free from the guilt, the penalty and the bondage of sin.
Lamentations 4 The prophet examines the consequences of trusting in the wrong things. Trusting in riches, beauty, religion, government or people is sure to produce disappointment and calamity. Instead, placing trust in the true and living God (even in the midst of discipline) is always the answer.
