Jeremiah 7:1-8:3–Jeremiah preaches a sermon to the people. He tells them that God says your time is up. Things have got to change. The prophet reminds them of God’s initial promise: “If you obey me, I will be your God.” It is through obedience that the nation will be restored.
Jeremiah 5:10-6:30–The Lord continues to inform Jeremiah how to answer when the people ask, “Why is God doing this to us?” God says they have failed the test and their time is up. God will now allow the fruit of their own schemes to come upon them.
