So What’s the Word on Life?

John 1:1-18

John’s Gospel was written after the other Gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark and Luke) had already been in circulation within the early church. John is an older man by this time and his account of the life and words of Jesus takes on a grandfatherly tone filling in parts of the well-known story that the other Gospel writers had omitted. John tells us plainly why he has recorded his own eye-witness recollections–
“But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31)

Who is Jesus? Why did He Come?

In this prologue to the Gospel of John, the writer lets us know just what he believes.
